Will The Circle Be Unbroken
This is the original version of the famous Grand Ole Opre closing song. It was written in 1907. The Carter family recorded a variation of this song called Can The Circle Be Unbroken in 1935, which became a favorite at the Grand Ole Opre.
5 -5 6 6 7 -8 8 8
There are loved ones in the glo-ry,
8 -8 7 -8 7 -6 6
Whose dear forms you of-ten miss:
5 -5 6 6 7 -8 8 8
When you close your earth-ly sto-ry,
7 7 -8 -8 -8 8 -8
Will you join them in their bliss?
chorus
7 -8 8 9 8 -8 7 8
Will the cir-cle be un-bro-ken
7 -7 -6-8 7 -6 6
By and b-y, by and by?
6 6 -6 7 7 -8 8 8
In a bet-ter home a-wait-ing
8 -9 9 8 -8 7
In the sky, in the sky?
verse 2
In the joyour days of childhood,
Oft they told of wondrous love,
Pointed to the dying Savior
Now they dwell with Him above.
verse 3
You can picture happy gath'rings
Round the fireside long ago.
And you think of tearful partings,
When they left you here below:
verse 4
One by one heir seats were emptied,
One by one they went away;
Here the circle has been broken
Will it be complete one day?
