No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus

This song by Charles Weigle is the product of one of the darkest periods of his life. He spent most of his life as an iterant evangelist and gospel songwriter. One day after returning home from an evangelistic crusade, he found a note left by his wife of many years. The note said she had had enough of an evangelist's life. She was leaving him. Weigle became so despondent during the next several years that there even times when he contemplated suicide. There was the terrible despair that no one really cared for him anymore. Gradually his spiritual faith was restored, and he once again became active in the Christian ministry. Soon he felt compelled to write this song.
4   -4    5   5  5    5
I would love to tell you

  5  5   -4   5  6 -4
what I think of Je-sus,

  -4  5   -5  -5 -5 -5   -5
Since I found in Him a friend

-5    5   -4    5
so strong and true;

4  -4     5   5
I would tell you

 5   5    5     5  -5   6     6  -5
how He changed my life com-plete-ly,

 4  -4   5    5
He did some-thing

  5   5   5 5    -4     4   -4
that no oth-er friend could do.

chorus

-6  6  -7 -7  -6   -6  -5   6   6  5
No one ev-er cared for me like Je-sus,

  -6     6 -7  -7   -6   -6  -5  -6  6
There's no oth-er friend so kind as He;

 7 -7   -8    7    -7  -6   6
No one else could take the sin

 5   -4   5     6  -5
and dark-ness from me,

5  5    6   6   -6  -3   4
O how much He cared for me!

verse 2
All my life was full of sin when Jesus found me
All my heart was full of misery and woe;
Jesus placed His strong and loving arms around me,
And He led me in the way I ought to go.

verse 3
Ev'ry day He comes to me with new assurance,
More and more I understand His words of love;
But I'll never know just why He came to save me,
Till some day I see His blessed face above.
