Al Arieta, a native Californian, and
wife Gloria have owned and operated West Point Lumber (Ace
Hardware) since 1977. Al began his carving in 1994 as a form
of relaxation from the hectic pace of business ownership.
Arieta started with his chainsaw and as time evolved his
love of both wild life and the out of doors he began observing and hand carving
local birds for pleasure. His finished works have found their
way into many private collections through out the USA. Al's
style is a blend of both traditional and artistic rendering.
By presenting the finished carvings in their natural
habitat he creates a realistic study of mother natures
winged treasures. Al's work is on display and available
for sale at the Sawdust Gallery, West Point, California.
