Greymail is the result of the virus and spam filtering options. Whenever the Virus Scanner or the Spam Filter catches a message that is identified as a virus or as spam, they will re-direct the message to Greymail. Greymail is essentially a quarantine area to contain these undesirable messages.

There are two ways to access Greymail. From a browser (such as Internet Explorer) go to either webmail.voclano.net or greymail.volcano.net. If you go to webmail.volcano.net, after logging in, you then can get into greymail by clicking on the Greymail link. Browsing to greymail.volcano.net will take you directly into the greymail box.

All email in Greymail is configured to automatically delete after a period of 14 days or less, depending on the user configurable setting. You may delete messages, forward messages, read messages, and configure a list of users that you always want to receive mail from.

Functions

Deleting a message: To delete a message or a collection of messages, select the checkbox to the left of each message, then hit the Delete icon at the top of the screen.

Viewing a message: To view a message, click on the Subject. If the message has no subject, you may click on the envelope to the right of the date field to pull up the message. This will launch a new window. If the message contains attachments or inline images, it will not display for security reasons. In this case, if the message is spam, you can forward it on to your normal email client and read it. Headers are not included in the message display. In order to view headers, click on the header icon next to the envelope.

Forwarding a message to your normal email account: To forward on a message, simply check the checkbox to the left of it, then hit the Forward Selected icon at the top of the screen. You then will be able to download that email to your email program on your computer.

Allowing mail from sender: To allow messages to pass through your spam filter, you can select the message by checking the checkbox to the left of the message, then hit the Allow Sender icon at the top of the page. This will add the sender's email address to the Whitelist which is a list of users that you will always receive mail from, regardless of whether they are spam or not.

Adding, Editing, or Removing users from your Whitelist: To add, edit or remove users from your Whitelist, select Options at the top of the screen. You can then add, edit, or remove email addresses from the list. In order to add multiple addresses, add one, then save, then another free input box will appear at the bottom of the list.

Statistics: Shows the number of messages which have been placed into your greymail on a month-by-month basis.
